Oxygen Sensor for Toyota Exhaust Feedback System 🔧
This sensor is needed to keep the engine air-fuel mixture correct. It reads the oxygen level in the exhaust stream and sends a signal to the ECU. With that feedback, the ECU fine-tunes fuel injection so the engine runs clean, strong, and efficient.
How It Works ⚙️
Mounted in the exhaust, the sensing element reacts to changes in oxygen content. The ECU uses this live data to adjust fuel trim in real time. When the mixture is rich or lean, the sensor voltage/signal shifts, helping the system maintain proper combustion and protect the catalytic converter.
What Happens If It’s Faulty ❗
A weak or failed unit can cause higher fuel use, rough idle, hesitation, and poor throttle response. You may see a check engine light, excess emissions, fuel smell, or catalytic converter overheating from incorrect fueling. Long-term driving with bad readings can lead to carbon buildup and costly exhaust damage.
When to Replace 🛠️
