Oxygen Feedback Sensor for Cleaner Running & Better MPG ?
This oxygen feedback sensor is a key part of the exhaust and fuel-control system. It is needed to help the engine computer keep the air/fuel mix close to ideal, so the engine runs smooth, saves fuel, and protects the catalytic converter.
How It Works βοΈ
The sensor sits in the exhaust stream and measures how much oxygen is left after combustion. It sends a voltage signal to the ECU, which then adjusts injector pulse and fuel trim in real time. When readings are accurate, you get steady idle, strong throttle response, and lower emissions.
What Happens If It Fails ?
A weak or dead sensor can make the ECU guess the mixture. This often causes poor fuel economy, rough idle, hesitation, black smoke, higher emissions, and a check engine light. Long-term driving with wrong fueling can overheat or clog the catalytic converter and foul spark plugs, turning a small issue into a costly repair.
