Diesel Coolant Temperature Sensor for Toyota Engines οΈ
This OEM-grade sender keeps your Toyota diesel running smart and safe. It feeds exact coolant heat data to the ECU, so the engine warms up correctly, saves fuel, and avoids overheating. Perfect choice when your gauge reads wrong, fans act odd, or cold starts get tricky.
Why this part is needed β
The ECU uses its signal to control fuel mapping, idle speed, glow plug time, EGR strategy, and radiator fan logic. With accurate numbers, you get smooth cold starts, stable temperature, strong towing performance, and longer head gasket and turbo life.
How it works
Inside is an NTC thermistor sealed in a metal body. As coolant warms, resistance drops. The ECU reads the voltage change and adjusts injection, timing, and fan engagement. The dash gauge also uses this value for a true temperature readout.
What happens if itβs failing β οΈ
Hard starts, rough idle, poor MPG, black or white smoke, lazy throttle, fan always on or never on, false overheat alarms, limp mode, or a glowing check light. Ignoring it risks overheating and costly engine damage.
Fitment, tips, and testing
Typically located near the thermostat housing or cylinder head. Install on a cool engine; use the correct seal, torque to spec, and bleed air from the cooling system. Inspect the connector for corrosion. Verify with a scan tool (live coolant temp) or measure resistance vs. temperature chart. If coolant is rusty or oily, flush before fitting the new unit.
