Rear Left Ride Height Sensor (Suspension Level Control) ๐
This rear-left height sensor is a key input for the vehicleโs height/leveling system. It helps the suspension keep a stable stance when you add passengers, tow a trailer, or carry heavy cargo. The result is better comfort, safer handling, and correct headlight aim.
Why this part is needed โ
The leveling ECU needs an accurate body-to-axle position signal. This sensor constantly โtellsโ the system how high the rear corner sits, so the suspension can correct it before the truck starts to sag or bounce.
How it works โ๏ธ
A small linkage moves with the suspension arm. Inside the sensor, that movement is converted into an electrical voltage signal. The control unit reads the signal and commands the height control/air or adaptive suspension components to raise or lower the rear as required.
What happens if itโs broken โ
- Rear end sits too low or too high
- Uneven ride height left-to-right
- Harsh ride, bouncing, or poor stability
- Warning light or stored fault codes
- Incorrect headlight leveling and faster tire wear
