Why you need it ⚠️
If this sensor is weak, wet, or misread, the system may disable pedestrian protection. You may see a PCS or safety warning. In a real event, the hood might not deploy—serious safety loss. In rare cases, a faulty unit can trigger false alerts.
How it works
Inside is a solid-state accelerometer (and, on some trims, pressure-tube logic) tuned to identify the unique signature of a pedestrian strike. It sends fast CAN messages to the control module, which validates speed and angle, then commands hood lifters. The housing is sealed against heat, water, and vibration.

Mount on an undamaged bracket, keep the energy absorber intact, and perform zero-point calibration with a scan tool after install. Do not cover the sensing window with thick paint or filler.
