Front Airbag Impact Sensor – SRS Safety Trigger ️
This OEM-grade front airbag sensor is a key part of the SRS. It reads sudden deceleration at the front of the car and sends a precise crash signal to the control module. With a healthy sensor, the system can deploy airbags fast and only when needed, improving driver and passenger protection.
Why you need it ✅
Airbag timing is everything. This sensor helps the SRS judge impact severity, direction, and speed. It keeps false deployments low and ensures correct airbag inflation in a real collision. It’s also required after many front-end repairs or any accident.
How it works ⚙️
Inside is a sealed accelerometer that measures g-force at the front rail/crash box. The module compares its signal with the main ECU to confirm an impact. The housing is corrosion-resistant, and the connector uses tight terminals for stable data.
If it fails or is damaged ⚠️
You’ll see the airbag warning light. The SRS may disable deployment, or in rare cases deploy late. Causes include water ingress, bent bracket, impact, or wiring faults. Always replace after a crash or when corrosion is found.
Install tips
Disconnect battery for 10–15 minutes. Mount to clean, flat metal; align arrow/marking forward; torque to spec; do not apply grease. Use the correct connector—never probe with a test light. Clear codes and verify no SRS lamp.
