This safety sensor is a key part of the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System). It is needed to detect a sudden impact and send a clean crash signal to the airbag control unit. When the control unit receives the correct signal, it can deploy airbags and tighten seatbelts in milliseconds to reduce injury risk.
How It Works ⚙️
Inside the unit is a calibrated accelerometer/impact element that measures rapid deceleration. During a collision, it converts movement into an electrical signal. The SRS module cross-checks this input with other sensors, then decides whether deployment conditions are met. Proper mounting and correct connector contact are critical for accurate readings.
If the Sensor Fails ?
