Why you need it 🛡️

The airbag system depends on accurate impact data. This sensor provides that data in milliseconds, helping airbags deploy only when needed. A weak or damaged sensor risks delayed response and reduced occupant protection.

How it works

Inside is a MEMS accelerometer and a tuned circuit. On severe impact, it crosses a set threshold and sends a high-speed signal to the SRS ECU. The ECU then decides to deploy front or side bags based on multiple inputs. The unit is designed to ignore road bumps and normal braking.

If the sensor is faulty ⚠️

You’ll see the SRS light on the dash. The ECU stores fault codes, disables deployment in most cases, and your airbags may not fire in a crash. Random deployment is rare; the system fails safe. Replace after any collision, avoid dropping it, and clear codes after fitting.

No software coding on most models; perform zero-point/calibration if required, torque to spec, and keep connectors dry. Never solder SRS wiring.
