Cabin Cooler Temperature Sensor (Thermistor) ?βοΈ
This small but critical sensor is used in the vehicleβs cooler/AC control system to measure air or evaporator temperature. The climate control unit needs this information to keep the cabin comfortable, prevent icing, and protect the cooler core from extreme temperature swings.
Why this part is needed
Modern AC systems donβt βguessβ temperatureβthey calculate it. The sensor helps the ECU/AC amplifier decide when to cycle the compressor, adjust blower speed, and manage airflow for steady cooling and better fuel efficiency.
How it works
Inside is a thermistor whose electrical resistance changes with temperature. The control module reads that signal and fine-tunes compressor operation to maintain the target cabin setting.
What happens if itβs broken
A failed sensor may cause weak cooling, sudden temperature jumps, evaporator freeze-up, or the compressor running too often or not at all. You may also see AC-related warning behavior and stored fault codes.
