    Toyota A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor ❄️️

    This OE-style HVAC thermistor keeps your cabin cool without freezing the evaporator. It constantly checks the evaporator core temperature and tells the climate control when to cycle the compressor. Result: steady cold air, quiet airflow, and better fuel efficiency.

    Why you need it

    Correct evaporator temperature protects the compressor, prevents ice buildup, and stabilizes cabin comfort. A healthy sensor helps the system defog faster and reduces strain on the A/C clutch and fan motor.

    How it works

    This NTC thermistor changes electrical resistance with temperature (resistance goes down as heat goes up). The HVAC amplifier reads the voltage signal and modulates compressor duty and blend control to keep the coil just above freezing. Precise sensing avoids icing and short cycling.

    What happens if it fails

    ⚠️ Symptoms include weak or intermittent cooling, evaporator icing with low airflow, water dripping inside, fogged windows, and compressor rapid on/off. You may also see A/C warning codes and increased fuel use.

    Tech notes

    Install into the evaporator case; do not touch the probe tip. Clean connector, check harness, and reset HVAC faults after replacement. Replace a clogged cabin filter to protect the new sensor.
