Cabin Cooler Temperature Sensor (No.1)

This small sensor is a key feedback part in the vehicle’s A/C cooling circuit. It is needed to keep cabin air cold, stable, and safe for the evaporator core ❄️. By reading cooler/evaporator temperature, it helps the climate control system decide when to command the compressor and when to ease off.

How it works

Inside is a temperature-sensitive resistor (NTC type). As temperature changes, its electrical resistance changes. The A/C amplifier (HVAC control unit) reads that signal and adjusts compressor cycling and blower strategy to prevent evaporator icing while maintaining comfort.

What happens if it fails

If the sensor goes out of range, becomes open/short, or reads inaccurately, the system may cool poorly, cool too much, or shut the compressor off to protect components. You may notice weak A/C, sudden warm air, evaporator freeze-up, extra moisture, or intermittent operation ⚠️. Long-term driving with wrong readings can overwork the compressor and increase fuel use.
