A/C Expansion Valve – Precise Cooling Control ❄️
This precision HVAC component meters refrigerant into the evaporator to keep cabin air cold, stable, and efficient. It replaces worn or clogged units to restore fast cool-down, consistent vent temperatures, and proper compressor protection. Built to OE-style specs for exact fit and long service life.
Why you need it
Over time, debris, moisture, or wear can disrupt refrigerant flow. Replacing the valve brings back strong cooling performance, reduces compressor strain, and helps maintain low noise and fuel-efficient A/C operation.
How it works
High-pressure liquid refrigerant enters the valve, passes a calibrated orifice controlled by a thermal element and diaphragm. The unit senses evaporator outlet pressure/temperature and modulates flow to maintain correct superheat, preventing freeze-up and ensuring peak cooling.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Symptoms include weak A/C at idle, air cycling hot–cold, pipe frost, rapid clutch cycling, or abnormal pressure readings. Stuck open: flooded evaporator and poor cooling. Stuck closed: starved evaporator and no cold air. Prolonged use can damage the compressor and contaminate the dryer.
Service notes
Replace O-rings, evacuate and recharge with correct refrigerant and oil, leak-test, and renew the receiver/drier if the system was open or contaminated.
