Why you need it ️
Without a healthy resistor, the cabin fan won’t follow your speed settings. Correct fan control improves cooling, heating, and demisting, and protects the blower motor from overload.
How it works ⚙️
The unit uses a resistor network and thermal fuse to step down voltage to the blower. The switch or control module chooses a circuit path, and the resistor’s heat sink dissipates warmth while mounted in the duct for cooling airflow.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
Common signs include fan stuck on high only, only low speeds, no fan at all, intermittent operation, or a hot/burnt connector smell. A/C may feel weak simply due to no airflow, not due to refrigerant.

Located near the blower housing (often behind the glove box). Disconnect battery, remove two screws, swap the module, and inspect the plug for heat damage. Replace a clogged cabin filter to reduce resistor heat.
