Why you need it
Without a healthy servo, the system can’t direct air to face/feet/defrost or balance hot and cold. Comfort drops, windows fog, and the A/C works harder than it should.
How it works
A compact motor turns through reduction gears to move the blend/mode flap. A built‑in position sensor reports to the A/C amplifier, which commands precise angles for smooth airflow changes. No.2 typically controls a mode or mix door depending on trim, ensuring accurate vent selection.
If it’s failing
- Stuck on hot or cold, or weak defrost
- Random vent switching or poor airflow balance
- Clicking/ticking behind the dash, calibration errors
- HVAC fault codes (B14xx), extra blower noise, higher load
