Left Side Airbag Impact Sensor (LH) ??
This left-hand impact sensor is a key safety input for the SRS airbag system. It is needed to detect a side/front
collision signal fast and send it to the airbag control unit, helping the system decide when to deploy protection.
Without a correct sensor reading, the whole SRS strategy can be delayed or disabled.
How It Works ⚙️
The sensor monitors sudden acceleration/deceleration forces on the vehicle’s body. When impact force reaches a
programmed threshold, it sends an electrical trigger signal to the SRS ECU. The ECU then confirms the event using
other inputs and commands airbag deployment in milliseconds. This part must have stable wiring, clean mounting, and
correct grounding to read accurately.
When It’s Failing or Broken ❗
A damaged sensor, corrosion in the connector, or internal fault can turn on the airbag warning light and store crash
or circuit codes. In the worst case, airbags may not deploy during an accident, or the system may be forced into a
fail-safe mode. Never ignore SRS lights—diagnose with proper scan tools and follow safety procedures.
Common Symptoms
- Airbag/SRS warning lamp stays on
- Intermittent warning after bumps or humidity
- Stored impact sensor or open/short circuit faults
