SRS Airbag Diagnostic Control Module ?️
This safety control unit is the “brain” of the SRS system. It is needed to watch crash sensors, seat-belt inputs, and wiring health, then decide when to trigger airbags and pretensioners. In normal driving it constantly runs self-checks, stores event data, and communicates with the car network so the warning lamp works correctly.
How it works ⚙️
The module reads impact signals in milliseconds. If values reach programmed limits, it sends a firing command to the airbag squibs and belt pretensioners. It also monitors resistance in each circuit; if it sees an open/short, it logs a fault code for scan-tool diagnosis.
When you need to replace it ?
- After an accident where SRS deployed
- Water damage or corrosion inside the cabin
- Persistent SRS light with internal module fault codes
What happens if it’s broken ❗
A failed unit can disable airbags, keep pretensioners from activating, or cause the SRS light to stay on—meaning the system may not protect you in a crash. Some vehicles may also store “no communication” errors, making inspection and repair impossible until the module is restored.
