This small but critical spring sits inside the SRS impact sensor and keeps the sensing mass centered. It preserves calibration so the airbag brain reads real crash forces, not road noise. Built from tempered steel with anti-corrosion finish, it is made to hold exact preload for safe, repeatable response.
Why you need it ⚙️
Without the correct bias force, an airbag sensor can drift from its zero point. The result is wrong thresholds, delayed deployment, or a warning light that disables the system. Replacing a tired or distorted spring restores factory accuracy and keeps the safety system ready.
How it works
The coil applies a calibrated push to the accelerometer/impact mass, recenters it after bumps, and filters vibration. This lets the module separate a true crash from normal road shocks and reset instantly after each event.
If the spring is faulty ⚠️
Signs include airbag lamp on, stored SRS DTCs, intermittent faults over rough roads, or failed inspection. In a crash, deployment can be late or inhibited. Do not bypass; replace and run a full SRS scan.
