Windshield Wiper Control Switch
This cockpit switch is the driver’s direct control for the front wiper system and washer. It’s needed to keep clear vision in rain, dust, mud, and road spray—especially on long trips and off-road driving 🚙💦. With one hand, you can select the right wipe speed and trigger the washer when the glass gets dirty.
How It Works
Inside the switch are precision contacts that send signals to the wiper relay/module and motor. As you move the lever through positions, it commands intermittent, low, and high speed. Pressing/pulling the washer function activates the washer pump and may cue a few automatic wipes to clear fluid.
What Happens If It’s Broken
A faulty switch can cause wipers to not work, run only on one speed, stop mid-sweep, or act randomly. The washer may fail to spray, or the wipers may stay on even when switched off. Driving with poor wiper control reduces visibility and safety, and can strain the wiper motor over time ⚠️.
