Fluid Level Warning Switch for Hilux and 4Runner

Why this part is needed

This small sensor keeps watch over your fluid reservoir, triggering a warning lamp when the level gets low. It helps you avoid running a system dry—protecting the washer pump, and on some trims that use it on the brake reservoir, maintaining a vital safety alert. If you want reliable dashboard warnings in all weather, this is the part that makes it happen ✅.

How it works

Inside the body sits a magnetic float and a sealed reed switch. When the fluid is high, the float keeps the circuit open. As the level drops, the magnet moves and the reed contacts close, sending a low-level signal to the cluster. A two-pin connector carries the signal, and an O-ring seals the sensor to the tank to prevent leaks. It’s a simple, robust design built to handle heat and chemicals .

What happens if it’s broken

Common signs are a low-fluid lamp that stays on or never comes on, false chimes, damp connectors, or fluid seepage at the sensor seat. You risk running a washer system dry (burning the pump) or, if used for brake fluid on your variant, losing the critical low-level warning—an avoidable safety hazard. Replacement is quick: unplug, twist or unclip, swap the O-ring if needed, and reconnect.
