Why you need it

How it works
Inside the housing, spring-loaded copper contacts route power to the flasher relay when you move the lever. A cam on the steering wheel trips the self-cancel pawls as the wheel returns to center. Low-resistance tracks and a molded harness ensure steady current to lamps and dash indicators, while plated terminals resist arcing and corrosion.
When it’s failing
Watch for intermittent or dead blinkers, no self-cancel, stuck high beams, uneven flash speed, spongy lever feel, or a burnt smell. Left unchecked, faults can blow fuses, drain the battery, overheat the column switch, and compromise communication with surrounding traffic.
