Steering Wheel Clock Spring (Spiral Cable)
This spiral cable keeps constant electrical contact between the steering wheel and the car while you turn. It powers the airbag, horn, and wheel buttons for audio/cruise, and may carry the steering angle sensor feed. If you want safe SRS operation and working controls, this part is essential ⚡.
Why you need it
During steering, wires cannot twist endlessly. The clock spring routes signals through a coiled ribbon so your airbag and switches work at every wheel angle. It restores OEM function and eliminates intermittent faults.
How it works
Inside the housing is a flat ribbon cable wound like a cassette. As you turn the wheel, it coils/uncoils smoothly, keeping a stable circuit. Precision connectors lock to the column and wheel; alignment marks keep it centered .
What if it’s broken
Signs include SRS light on, horn inoperative, dead wheel buttons, VSC/ABS warnings (if angle sensor is linked), or clicking noises. With a failed airbag circuit, the system is disabled until repaired—don’t ignore the warning ⚠️.
Install notes
Disconnect battery and wait 10 minutes, set wheels straight, do not spin the new unit before fitting, transfer angle sensor if separate, then torque the wheel nut to spec .
