Steering Wheel Spiral Cable (Clock Spring) for SRS, Horn & Controls ?
This precision spiral cable keeps power and signals flowing between the steering wheel and the car’s wiring while you turn. It maintains a reliable link for the driver airbag, horn, audio buttons, and cruise controls, ensuring safety and comfort every drive. Built for OE-style fit, it restores factory function and steering feel. ✅
Why this part is needed ⚙️
With age, the internal ribbon conductor wears, cracks, or snaps. Replacing it clears the SRS light, brings back the horn, and revives wheel-mounted switches. It’s a must-have fix for safe airbag operation and convenient control.
How it works ?
Inside sits a flat, multi-track ribbon wound like a clock spring. As you steer, it coils and uncoils, keeping constant electrical contact for the airbag, horn, audio/phone keys, cruise, and often the steering angle sensor. Proper indexing keeps the ribbon centered to prevent strain.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Common symptoms: SRS warning on, horn inoperative, dead or intermittent buttons, traction/ABS lights from angle sensor loss, and odd turn-cancel behavior. A failed ribbon can disable the driver airbag—do not ignore.
Install notes ?
Disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes, center the wheel, and lock the new unit at neutral turns. Handle the airbag carefully. Misalignment will tear the ribbon again.
