Steering Wheel Clock Spring (Spiral Cable) Replacement
This OEM-grade spiral cable links the steering wheel to the vehicle body wiring, keeping power and signals flowing while you turn. It feeds the airbag, horn, cruise control, audio, and wheel buttons with steady contact. Ideal to restore safe SRS function and full steering wheel features without flicker, cuts, or random faults.
Why this part is needed
With age the flat ribbon inside fatigues, cracks, or is over-rotated during service. A new unit brings back reliable horn and switch response, clears the airbag light, and protects you and passengers οΈ.
How it works
A coiled conductive ribbon sits in a cassette behind the wheel. As you steer, the ribbon winds and unwinds, maintaining electrical continuity to the airbag igniter and controls. Proper centering prevents strain.
What happens if it breaks β οΈ
Airbag warning stays on, horn stops, cruise and audio buttons fail, and SRS may not deploy in a crash. You might hear scratching inside the wheel. Driving with a failed unit is unsafe.
Fitment and install tips
Disconnect battery and wait 10 minutes, lock the shaft, align centering marks, and never spin the cassette when detached. Calibrate the steering angle sensor if equipped.
