Steering Wheel Spiral Cable (Clock Spring) for Airbag & Controls

This spiral cable links the steering wheel to the car’s body so your airbag, horn, and wheel buttons work even while you turn. It keeps constant power and signal flow to critical systems. If you want safe SRS operation, working cruise/audio switches, and a reliable horn, this part is essential.

How It Works ⚙️

Inside the housing is a flat ribbon conductor wound like a spring. As you rotate the wheel, the ribbon winds and unwinds, maintaining electrical continuity. It’s centered at install so it doesn’t over-stretch at full lock. Quality terminals reduce resistance and signal noise.

Why It’s Needed ✅

Without a healthy clock spring, the driver airbag won’t trigger correctly, and steering wheel switches lose communication with the car’s modules. It preserves safety and convenience in one compact unit.

What Happens If It’s Broken ⚠️

Airbag light stays on, horn stops, and buttons die. You may hear rubbing inside the wheel. Driving with an illuminated SRS light means the airbag may not deploy—repair immediately.

Tech Notes ️

Disconnect battery and wait 10+ minutes before removal. Keep the wheels straight, lock the new unit centered, and avoid spinning it before install. Torque the wheel to spec and verify no warning lights after.
