Front Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly ??
This small door-trigger switch is a key part of the cabin lighting and “door open” signal system. It is needed to turn the interior courtesy lamp on and off automatically when you open or close the front door, improving safety at night and helping you find controls and seatbelts quickly.
How It Works ⚙️
The switch sits in the door jamb and reacts to door movement. When the door opens, the plunger releases and the circuit changes state, allowing the courtesy light to illuminate (and on some setups, informing the cluster or alarm). When the door closes, the plunger is pressed in, the circuit returns, and the light goes out.
If the Switch Fails ❗
A worn or corroded switch can cause the interior light to stay on (battery drain), not come on at all (poor visibility), or flicker with bumps. It may also trigger false “door ajar” warnings or interfere with central locking/alarm behavior depending on vehicle wiring.
