Front Level Height Sensor Assembly for Subaru
This front suspension level sensor helps the vehicle “know” its ride height in real time. It is needed on models that use automatic headlight leveling and/or height-related chassis control, so the lights stay aimed correctly and the system reacts properly to load changes.
How It Works
The sensor is linked to the front suspension arm with a small rod. As the wheel moves up and down, the sensor reads the suspension angle and converts it into an electrical signal. That signal is sent to the control unit, which adjusts headlamp aim or leveling functions to match the car’s actual stance. ⚙️
Symptoms of a Faulty Sensor
- Headlights pointing too high or too low at night
- Warning light or leveling system error message
- Uneven beam pattern after loading cargo or passengers
- Erratic readings due to corrosion, water entry, or a bent linkage
What Happens If You Ignore It
A broken unit can leave the headlights misaligned, reducing visibility and increasing glare for other drivers. In some cases, the control system may disable leveling as a safety fallback. Replacing the sensor restores accurate ride-height feedback and stable lighting performance.
