Front Left Door Latch Assembly for Hyundai/Kia Sorento
This driver-side front latch is the core of the door locking system. It keeps the door closed, links the handles to the lock, and talks to the car’s electronics. A fresh unit restores safe closure, correct door-ajar signaling, and smooth locking with the key fob. Ideal OEM-style replacement for worn, noisy, or sticky mechanisms.
Why this part is needed
It secures the door to the body striker during driving, resists vibration, and interfaces with central locking. If the latch wears, you get slamming, bounce-back, or random unlocks—compromising safety and comfort. Replacing the assembly prevents rattles, water leaks, and alarm issues.
How it works ️
Inside, a pawl and ratchet clamp the B‑pillar striker. Handle rods/cables pull a release cam to open. An electric actuator sets lock/unlock when you press the remote. Integrated micro‑switches send door‑ajar status to the BCM so lights, alarm, and auto‑lock features operate correctly.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Door won’t latch or pops open, remote lock fails, interior light stays on, battery may drain, grinding or stiff handle, need to slam the door. In severe cases the vehicle may warn “door open” and can refuse to shift from Park. Replace as a complete unit; align to the striker and lightly grease the latch face.
