Front Bonnet Lock Assembly

This sturdy hood locking unit keeps your bonnet closed and stable at any speed. It secures the engine bay from wind lift, water, and dirt, and stops vibration that can damage hinges, fenders, and the windshield area. Choosing an OE-style latch means quiet drives, safe service work, and proper sealing of the front panel.

How It Works βš™οΈ

The striker on the bonnet hooks into a spring-loaded pawl inside the latch. A cabin cable pulls the release lever, opening the primary catch. A built-in secondary safety catch adds a backup so the hood cannot fly up if the main catch is not fully engaged. Corrosion-resistant steel and precise geometry ensure smooth open/close cycles.

When It Fails

Typical signs are bonnet rattle, hard release, uneven gaps, or β€œhood open” warnings. A seized or worn latch can keep the hood from locking, or worseβ€”unlock at speed, risking sudden bonnet lift, glass damage, and loss of visibility. Replace on rust, bent pawl, weak spring, or stretched cable.

Tech Tips ️

  • Direct bolt-on to upper crossmember; no wiring needed.
  • Align with striker; tighten evenly and test both catches.
  • Lubricate twice a year with light lithium grease.
