Precision needle roller bearing 27Γ46Γ21 for Subaru driveline βοΈ
This compact bearing supports shafts in the gearbox, transfer case, or differential, keeping them straight under load. You need it to cut friction, hold accurate gear mesh, and keep shifts smooth and quiet. In Subaru AWD systems it handles high radial loads while saving space, protecting gears and synchronizers from heat and wear.
How it works
Dozens of hardened needle rollers run in a steel cage between the shaft and housing. The 27 mm inner fit, 46 mm outer fit, and 21 mm width give a tight, precise seat. The rollers spread radial load evenly, maintain a stable oil film, and reduce drag, improving efficiency and bearing life.
What happens if it fails β
Expect speedβbased whine, rough shifting, vibration on accel/decel, metal glitter in oil, and play in the shaft. Left alone, it can pit the shaft, damage gears, overheat the unit, or seizeβleading to costly transmission or diff rebuild.
Install tips
Press in squarely (no hammering), check shaft/housing for scoring, renew seals, and use the correct Subaru fluid. Always follow workshop torque and clearance specs.
