A/C Compressor Suction Hose

This hose is a key link in the air conditioning circuit, carrying low-pressure refrigerant vapor from the cabin evaporator back to the compressor. On hybrids like the PHEV, stable A/C performance matters not only for comfort, but also for proper humidity control in the cabin. ❄️

Why this part is needed

The suction side must stay sealed and flexible while the engine bay moves and vibrates. This hose is built to handle refrigerant, oil mist, and temperature swings without collapsing or leaking.

How it works

When the A/C runs, refrigerant leaves the evaporator as a cool vapor and flows through this suction line into the compressor. The hose maintains smooth airflow and correct pressure so the compressor can compress the gas efficiently for the next cooling cycle.

What happens if it’s broken

A cracked or loose hose can leak refrigerant and oil, causing weak cooling, longer compressor run time, and possible compressor damage from low lubrication. You may notice hissing, oily residue at fittings, or the A/C shutting down to protect the system. ⚠️
