    A/C receiver–drier for reliable cooling ❄️

    This unit is a key part of the air‑conditioning loop in many Mitsubishi vehicles. It stores liquid refrigerant, filters debris, and removes moisture. You need it to protect the compressor, keep pressures stable, and deliver steady cold air to the cabin.

    How it works ⚙️

    After the condenser, liquid refrigerant enters a sealed canister packed with desiccant and fine filters. The desiccant traps water, preventing ice and acid. The outlet meters clean liquid to the TXV/orifice for efficient evaporation. This smooth flow improves cooling performance and extends compressor life.

    When it fails

    Signs include weak or intermittent cooling, frosty lines at the valve, noisy or overheating compressor, high pressure readings, or metal/black debris in the circuit. Replace it any time the system is opened, after leaks, or during compressor replacement.

    If left broken

    Moisture creates acid and corrosion, clogs the valve, seizes the compressor, and contaminates the whole system—leading to costly repairs.

    Fitting tips

    Use new O‑rings, add correct PAG oil amount, evacuate 30–45 min, recharge to spec (R134a/R1234yf), and leak-test. Always install a fresh drier, never reuse.
