A/C Expansion Valve — Precise Cooling Control ❄️

This OEM-grade refrigerant metering unit restores sharp, stable cooling in your Mitsubishi HVAC. It regulates flow to the evaporator so the cabin gets cold air fast without freezing coils or overworking the compressor. A healthy AC expansion valve is essential for clean superheat control, consistent vent temps, and long compressor life in hot traffic or highway runs.

Why you need it

It keeps pressure and temperature in balance, preventing icing, weak airflow, and erratic cooling. Proper metering improves fuel efficiency and protects seals and the compressor.

How it works

A thermostatic element senses evaporator outlet conditions and moves a needle to meter refrigerant. It drops high‑pressure liquid to a low‑pressure mist, maintaining correct superheat so the evaporator absorbs maximum heat without liquid returning to the compressor.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

Stuck closed: warm air, low suction pressure, frost at the inlet, hissing, slow cooldown. Stuck open: fluctuating temps, high low‑side pressure, gurgling, flooded evaporator, potential compressor damage. Both cause rapid cycling and poor climate control.

Installation tips

Replace O‑rings, add correct PAG oil, evacuate to deep vacuum, recharge to spec. Insulate the sensing bulb, torque lines evenly, and consider a new receiver‑drier if debris or moisture is present.
