A/C Thermistor Sensor (OEM 7801A412) for Precise Cabin Cooling βοΈ
Why this part is needed
This tiny temperature sensor keeps your air conditioning smart and safe. It monitors evaporator temperature and tells the climate control when to cool, when to pause, and how to prevent icing. The result: stable cabin comfort, dry air for clear windows, protected compressor life, and better fuel efficiency .
How it works
Itβs an NTC thermistor: resistance drops as temperature rises. Mounted on the evaporator case, it feeds live readings to the A/C ECU. The ECU then cycles the compressor and blower to hold target temps and stop the evaporator from freezing around 0Β°C. Accurate data equals consistent cooling and quiet operation.
What happens if it fails
Bad readings cause poor cooling or constant cycling. Expect warm air at idle, random cold/hot swings, foggy glass, evaporator icing, or the compressor refusing to engage. You may see A/C light flashing and fault codes. Long-term, the compressor can overwork, raising fuel use and repair costs.
Tech tips
Located near the evaporator (often behind the glove box). Check the connector and clip, avoid bending the probe, and clear HVAC codes after install. Plug-and-play replacement restores correct climate control fast.
