This precision cap keeps the fuel closed tight, stops vapors from escaping, and protects the tank from dust and water. A healthy seal supports correct fuel pressure and the EVAP system, helping your engine run clean and efficient. It also prevents fuel smell around the car and saves gasoline.
Why this part is needed ️
Modern engines rely on a sealed tank to control emissions and vapor flow. Without a proper cap, the EVAP system cannot hold vacuum, and the ECU may reduce performance and economy. A tight cap also shields the filler neck from corrosion.
How it works ⚙️
The cap uses a shaped gasket and locking tabs to clamp on the filler neck. An internal relief valve lets the system breathe in a controlled way during pressure changes (heat or altitude). The tether prevents loss during refueling.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Loose or cracked cap causes Check Engine Light, common EVAP leak codes, rough idle at times, fuel odor, and higher consumption. Dirt may enter the tank, stressing the pump and injectors. In rain, moisture can reach the neck and form rust.
