Fuel Lid Lock Control Cable Assembly ?β½
This control cable links your cabin release lever to the fuel filler door lock. It is needed to let you open the fuel lid quickly and safely, especially in bad weather or when the vehicle is dusty and the flap gets tight.
How it works βοΈ
When you pull the fuel door release, the inner wire slides inside a protective outer sleeve. That motion moves the latch arm at the fuel lid, unlocking the flap with a smooth, guided pull. The sheath keeps the cable aligned and reduces friction, so the latch opens with the correct travel and tension.
What happens if itβs broken ?
A stretched, seized, or snapped cable can leave the fuel door stuck closed, forcing you to pry the flap or access an emergency release. Sometimes it stays partly released, causing a loose flap, rattles, or water/dirt entry around the filler area. Ignoring it can also damage the latch and trim clips.
Technician tips ?
- Check for heavy lever feel (early sign of rust or kinks).
- Ensure correct routing to avoid sharp bends and premature failure.
