Engine Thermostat Assembly for Subaru ?
Keep the cooling system in balance and your Subaru running strong. This direct-fit thermostat assembly controls coolant flow so the engine warms up fast and stays near the ideal operating temperature. Stable heat means better fuel economy, smooth performance, stronger cabin heat, and reduced emissions. It also protects gaskets, alloy heads, and the radiator from thermal shock.
How it works ?️
At the heart is a wax-charge pellet linked to a spring-loaded valve. As coolant heats up, the wax expands and pushes the valve open, sending flow to the radiator. When coolant cools, the wax contracts and the valve closes, using the bypass passage to speed warm-up. A small bleed feature helps purge air during refill for consistent temperature control.
What happens if it’s broken
Stuck closed: rapid overheating, boiling coolant, warped heads, and possible engine failure. Stuck open: engine runs too cool, higher fuel use, weak heater, rough drive, and a check-engine light (often P0128). A leaking wax capsule or weak spring causes unstable temps and early wear of cooling components.
Service tips ?
Install with a new gasket, clean mating surfaces, and torque evenly. Refill with Subaru-approved coolant and bleed air; position any jiggle pin up for proper venting.
