Rear Door Lock Remote Control Cable (Right/Left)
This rear door lock control cable connects the inside handle/actuator movement to the rear door latch, letting the lock and unlock action travel smoothly through the door shell. It’s needed whenever the original cable is stretched, rusted, kinked, or the end fittings are loose—common after years of dust, water, and door slams. 🔧
How it works
Inside a low-friction sheath, a steel inner wire slides back and forth. When you pull the handle or the remote lock mechanism moves, the cable transfers that motion to the latch lever. Proper tension keeps the latch timing correct, so the door opens and locks with normal effort.
When this cable fails
A damaged cable can cause hard pulling, delayed unlocking, or a rear door that won’t open from inside or outside. In worse cases, the latch may not fully return, leading to a door that won’t stay locked or feels “half-latched,” increasing safety risk and wear on the latch. ⚠️
