Why this part is needed
This unit keeps your pickup’s bed door secure, ties into central locking, and prevents the tailgate popping open on rough roads. It protects tools and cargo, reduces rattle, and keeps dust and water out of the latch. A healthy tailgate lock also stops handle wear and saves the exterior latch from extra stress.
How it works ⚙️
An electric actuator drives a gear and cam that moves the latch rod. When you press the remote or turn the key, the controller pulls the rod to lock or unlock the rear gate. A position switch reports status to the body module, so the truck knows the tailgate is closed. The housing is sealed, with a metal bracket and nylon bushings for smooth, long life movement.
What happens if it’s broken ❗
Common signs are no lock/unlock, a stuck handle, weak motor noise, or the tailgate opening by itself. You may get warning chimes, water inside the latch, and fast battery drain if the motor stalls. Driving like this risks losing cargo and damaging the bed and hinges.

Direct‑fit, bolt to the inner panel. Transfer rods, clip them firmly, connect the plug, then center the latch and test with the remote. Lubricate with silicone grease; avoid thick grease that slows the actuator.
