Hood Latch Striker Plate (Front Bonnet Catch) ?
This small but critical metal striker is the part the hood latch grabs onto when you close the bonnet. It is needed to keep the hood fully locked at highway speed, over bumps, and during hard braking. A correctly aligned striker also helps the hood sit even with the fenders, reducing rattles and wind noise.
How It Works ✅
When you lower the hood, the latch mechanism hooks around the striker loop/plate and holds it under spring tension. The safety catch supports it as a backup, while the release cable lets you open the hood from inside the cabin. Proper striker position ensures smooth closing without slamming.
What Happens If It’s Worn or Broken ⚠️
A damaged or bent striker can cause the hood to not latch fully, pop up on rough roads, or sit misaligned. You may hear clunking, feel vibration, or struggle to open/close the hood. In worst cases, the hood can lift while driving, blocking vision and risking serious damage.
