Roof drip moulding seal — why you need it ️
This weatherstrip sits under the roof drip trim and closes the gutter channel so rain, wash water, and dust stay out. It stops wind whistle, keeps the headliner dry, and protects roof seams from corrosion. A fresh seal also keeps the drip moulding aligned for a clean, factory look.
How it works ️
The seal is a shaped rubber profile that compresses between the roof edge and the drip rail. Its lip guides water to the ends of the channel, away from doors and glass. When pressed in, the material conforms to tiny gaps, maintaining pressure along the full length. Quality adhesive backing and precise cut length prevent lift at high speed and in hot/cold cycles.
What happens if it’s damaged
Cracks, shrinkage, or hardened rubber let water creep under the trim. You may notice wet A‑pillars, stained headliner, and rust starting at roof seams. Wind noise increases, the moulding can loosen, and dust enters the cabin. Left unchecked, repairs get costly due to corrosion and interior damage.
Tech tips for replacement
Remove old adhesive, clean the channel with isopropyl alcohol, dry fully, and test-fit. Install from the windshield end, press evenly without stretching, and seat around curves. Work above 15°C for best tack, then avoid washing for 24 hours.
