Front Hood Weather Seal (Rubber Weatherstrip)
This rubber sealing strip fits along the front edge of the hood area to close the gap between the hood and the upper body panel. It’s needed to keep the engine bay cleaner, reduce wind noise, and help stop water, dust, and road grit from being pushed inside at speed .
How It Works
The seal is made from flexible molded rubber that compresses when the hood is shut. That light compression creates a tight barrier, guiding airflow over the hood line instead of letting it whistle through the gap. It also helps prevent vibration and small hood rattles by adding a soft contact point.
If the Seal Is Worn or Broken
Cracked, flattened, or missing weatherstrip can lead to louder wind noise, more dirt on the engine cover, and water traces around the latch area ️. Over time, extra moisture and grime may speed up corrosion on metal edges and fasteners, and the hood may feel less “solid” when closing.
