Rear Right Door Latch Assembly ??
This rear right door latch is the safety lock mechanism that keeps the back passenger door closed while driving. It’s needed to prevent the door from popping open on bumps, during braking, or in a side impact. A healthy latch also lets the central locking system do its job smoothly and quietly.
How It Works ⚙️
Inside the latch body, a rotating claw grabs the door striker on the body pillar. When you pull the inside or outside handle, linkage or cable releases the claw so the door can open. When you lock the car, the latch blocks the release path, stopping the handle from opening the door.
Signs of a Failing Latch ❗
If the latch is worn, bent, or jammed, the door may not close fully, may bounce back, or may only “half latch.” You might notice random unlock/lock behavior, a door-ajar warning, or a handle that feels loose or stuck.
What Happens If It Breaks ?
A broken latch can leave the door unable to open from inside, or worse, unable to stay closed. That creates a serious safety risk and can lead to water leaks, wind noise, and damaged weather seals from repeated slamming.
