Rear Right Door Latch Assembly 🔧
This rear right door latch is a key safety and comfort part that keeps the back door closed tight while driving. It is needed to prevent door bounce, wind noise, and unwanted opening on bumps. A healthy latch also helps the central locking system do its job correctly.
How It Works ⚙️
Inside the latch body, a rotating claw grabs the door striker on the body pillar. When you shut the door, the claw locks in two steps (first catch and full lock) for secure holding. The outside/inside handles pull a release lever, and the lock actuator blocks or allows that release depending on lock status.
What Happens If It’s Broken 🚫
- Door may not close fully or pops back open.
- Rattling noises, poor alignment feel, or extra force needed to shut.
- Power lock may click but door stays unlocked (or stuck locked).
