Intermediate Steering Shaft for Hyundai and Kia Light Trucks ?
This steering link sits between the column and the steering gear. Its job is to transfer your input from the wheel to the box with zero delay and zero play. Built with precision splines, a sliding (telescopic) section for length compensation, and durable U-joints, it keeps steering precise under load, bumps, and frame twist. Anti-corrosion coating and tight tolerances ensure long service life in tough commercial use.
Why this part is needed
Daily hauling wears joints and splines. Replacing a loose or rusty link restores straight tracking, accurate feedback, and safe control—especially important for loaded urban delivery and rural routes.
How it works
The upper yoke locks to the column, the lower yoke locks to the gear input. U-joints handle angle changes, while the slip section compensates for chassis movement and allows collapse in a crash. Torque goes through without twist or lag.
What happens if it’s broken
Expect clunking over bumps, vague steering, off-center wheel, or binding when turning. In severe cases, you can lose steering input—an immediate safety hazard and a cause of uneven tire wear.
Tech notes ?
Check for rust at the joints, stiffness, or axial play. During install, keep the wheel straight, mark splines, torque pinch bolts to spec, and use thread locker. Do not hammer the shaft; align gently to avoid damaging splines.
