Why this part is needed
This rubber perimeter seal keeps the windshield tight against the body, blocking rain, dust, and wind. It prevents annoying whistles, protects the cabin from leaks, and shields the pinch weld from rust. A healthy seal also cushions the glass, reducing vibration and extending windshield and interior trim life.
How it works
Made from durable EPDM, the channel hugs the glass edge and sits on the body flange. When the glass is set, the seal compresses to create a weather-tight barrier. Its lip design guides water away, while the soft core absorbs body flex and road shocks. Proper seating ensures correct glass alignment and noise reduction.
What happens if it’s broken
Cracks, shrinkage, or hardening lead to water ingress, fogged windows, mildew smells, and corrosion around the frame. You may hear wind howl at speed, see damp carpets, or notice loose trim. In severe cases, glass stability can be compromised on rough roads.
