Center Instrument Panel Air Vent Register

How it works
The register sits in the center of the instrument panel and channels air from the HVAC plenum. A thumb wheel or slider moves a pivot bar to open the internal shutter and set vane angle. Vertical and horizontal fins guide flow left/right and up/down. Molded clips lock the frame to the panel, while a foam seal prevents leaks and wind noise.
If it’s damaged ⚠️
Broken clips create gaps, vibration, and whistling. Stuck fins push air away from you, making A/C or heat feel weak. Loose louvers flop and may drop into the duct. A cracked frame leaks air, forcing higher fan speeds, reducing comfort and efficiency.
Install tips
Use a plastic trim tool, release tabs, pull the old unit, transfer any attached trim, then press the new register until it clicks. No special tools; about 15–30 minutes.
