Rear Spring Bushing – Restore Quiet, Tight Suspension

This OE-grade rear spring bushing sits in the eye of the rear leaf spring and isolates the spring from the frame bracket or shackle. It is needed to control axle location, absorb vibration, and keep ride height consistent. A fresh bushing cuts road harshness, stops clunks, and sharpens rear-end tracking for confident braking and cornering.

How it works

The inner sleeve is clamped by the bolt while the outer shell is pressed into the spring eye. As the suspension moves, the elastomer twists, allowing controlled articulation and filtering noise and vibration (NVH) βš™οΈ. This prevents metal-to-metal contact and keeps the axle centered relative to the body for stable handling.

What happens when it fails

Symptoms include squeaks, rear steer, tire edge wear, uneven ride height, wandering, and thumps over bumps. Excess play can shift the axle, increase braking distances, and stress shackles and hangers ⚠️. Ignoring it can also oval the spring eye and accelerate tire wear.

Service notes

Press-fit only; torque bolts at normal ride height. Replace in pairs for even alignment. Inspect sleeves and bolts; renew if pitted. Do not lubricate rubber-to-shell interfaces; install dry in clean bores. Grease is only for polyurethane types ️.
