Front Upper Spring Pad (Suspension) ?️
This small cushion sits at the top of the front coil spring and isolates the spring from the body/strut seat.
It is needed to keep the suspension quiet, protect metal surfaces, and maintain correct spring seating when the vehicle hits bumps or brakes hard.
How it works ⚙️
The pad acts like a durable rubber/compound insulator. It absorbs vibration, reduces harshness, and prevents spring-to-metal contact.
It also helps the spring stay aligned so the load is spread evenly across the mount during steering and suspension travel.
What happens if it’s worn or broken ❗
A damaged pad can cause clunks, squeaks, and rattles over rough roads. The spring may shift slightly, leading to uneven ride height,
faster strut mount wear, and possible spring seat damage. Left too long, it can increase vibration in the cabin and accelerate tire wear from poor suspension control.
When to replace ?
Replace it during strut/spring service, or if you hear noise from the top of the suspension, see rubber cracking, or notice metal scuffing where the spring sits.
