Front Strut Mount Bearing for Nissan MacPherson Suspension
Why your car needs it
This small but tough bearing sits at the top of the strut, between the spring seat and the body mount. It lets the suspension carry weight while the strut turns with the steering. The result: smooth steering, quiet ride, correct caster/camber, and even tire wear. Without a healthy strut top bearing, the whole front end feels tired.
How it works
Inside is a sealed race with hardened steel balls and a durable cage. When you turn the wheel, the bearing allows the spring and strut to rotate freely, preventing spring wind-up and mount twist. It reduces friction, isolates road noise, and keeps the strut aligned for predictable handling and braking.
What happens if itβs worn or broken β οΈ
Signs include groaning or creaking at low speeds, clunking over bumps, heavy or notchy steering, steering that doesnβt return to center, wandering, and feathered tire edges. A failed bearing can tear the top mount, stress the rack and tie rods, and increase stopping distance on rough roads. Ignoring it raises NVH and repair costs.
Tech tips β
Replace in pairs. Use a spring compressor and torque the top nut to spec. Inspect mount and dust boot. Finish with a wheel alignment for best results.
