Over time, the inner wire stretches, the housing cracks, or moisture causes rust. When that happens, the lever feel becomes heavy or loose, and the latch won’t move its full travel.
How it works
Pulling the cabin lever tensions the inner steel cable inside a lined sheath. That tension rotates the latch release arm at the hood lock. When you let go, the latch spring returns the mechanism and the cable relaxes for the next use.
